1. The history of Microleaves LTD
Microleaves LTD is the oldest of the top residential backconnect service providers. It started at the end of 2013 with the name Reverse Proxies selling proxies for internet marketers on forums like blackhatworld( their first sale thread was posted there on Nov 27, 2013 ) and warriorforum and was the service that brought backconnect proxies from the dark underworld to the mainstream.
They were also the ones to introduce another feature that is still popular for residential proxies. And that is a proxy rotation timer, meaning that each proxy changes the IP address after a while.
In the beginning they offered only residential backconnect proxies and in February 2014 Microleaves started offering captcha solving services followed by dedicated and shared datacenter proxies in August.
2. Current product catalog
At present Microleaves has 2 categories of products each split in 2 subcategories:
- Residential Backconnect Proxies
- Datacenter Proxies
2.1.1. Basic Backconnect Proxies
If your needs are simpler or basic as their name implies these are perfect for you. But you probably need some kind of control over them. In that case or if you use popular services then you need the special package.
Although Basic backconnect proxies are residential IPs they don’t have most of the useful features that people use. So things like Geo Targeting, social media ( Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest ), video sites ( Youtube, Vimeo ) and mail ( Yahoo, Gmail ) are not allowed.
One key advantage of these proxies is that you can use most google services for half the price of the special package. All you need to do is to enable them from the control panel.
IP addresses change every ten minutes by default but this can be changed in settings. Sometimes the IP might change sooner, it happens when people turn off or disconnect their computers.
2.1.2. Special Backconnect Proxies
Special backconnect proxies are the bread and butter of Microleaves. And in my humble opinion they are the Core of their whole business. Just like the Basic package the IP addresses are residential and are hard to detect making them ideal for everything from data mining, price and ads checking and most of your needs.
IP addresses also change every ten minutes by default, the same as the basic proxies, both of them also support SOCKS 4/5 and HTTP/s proxy protocols
This package is more expensive but is what most people will opt for because of the Country Filtering that is enabled with it.
2.2.1. Dedicated Datacenter Proxies
Dedicated Proxies are proxy software running on servers in datacenters and have a more limited number of IPs. The system gives you a set of addresses on purchase and they only change when you request it. They also differ from shared proxies by only allocating one IP address to a single client.
Being hosted on servers in well interconnected datacenters these proxies are faster most of the times than backconnect proxies.
Unlike the backconnect proxies Microleaves’ Datacenter proxies only allow HTTP/s protocol and there are no plans of adding SOCKS soon.
2.2.2. Shared Datacenter Proxies
Shared proxies are different from Dedicated Proxies in mostly 2 fundamental ways: Price and Performance.
First of all they are 40-50% cheaper than their dedicated cousins. But you have a bigger chance of getting the same IP as other clients. Up to three clients per IP according to Microleaves.
The main caveat for the datacenter proxies is that their static nature. So for both clients and Microleaves as a whole it means that they are easy targets for Application Firewalls and Anti-Botting Frameworks like the one Cloudflare has. Also the fact that most IPs that are routed to datacenters are usually known does not help matters much either. So if your use case implies any sort of anti-botting then you are much safer opting for the residential proxy packages above.
3. Proxy API
Besides the Proxy Control Panel where you can find your list of proxies Microleaves also has an API on their website that has some basic functionality attached to it. Firstly you can do things like setting your GEO and your Authorized IP List. In other words the list of IPs that are allowed to connect to your proxies. Therefore this is something you must do before using your backconnect proxies. In contrast this it’s not required for shared or dedicated proxies because they default to user+password. In addition you can get also your proxy list here. However you can not get the real IPs, only the ones from their system. Find out more here
4. Payment Options
By default Microleaves accepts payments with Paypal and Credit Cards. Previously they also accepted Bitcoin payments straight on their website but it’s since been disabled. However you can still pay with Bitcoin and other options like Payza, Webmoney and Perfect Money. But to do that you need to chose Other Payment Options which starts a ticket. Then they’ll help you do the payment manually.
5. Affiliate and Whitelabel Programs
An affiliate program is a way for merchants to market themselves indirectly. The merchant, in this case Microleaves uses a system where their clients get a commission for referring users. The thinking being that our customers know other people who might need our service so let’s pay them to promote us.
In contrast to most solutions Microleaves offers two ways of promoting their service. Firstly there is a simple referral cookie/url where you send people to your url on the microleaves domain. Then when people signup you get a commission. Secondly is the more advanced one called a whitelabel. In other words you get your own domain and promote your own business, almost like a reseller.
5.1. Microleaves Affiliate Program
Usually you need a separate account for the affiliate program. But with Microleaves you get access to it by default and can just make money with it right away. Just go to the affiliate section in your account and you can find all the information you need.
5.2. Microleaves Whitelabel Program
In the whitelabel program you need your own domain name and frontend pages. Then you get your domain, you go through the process of signing up. Also you send them the HTML files for your website so they can set everything up for you. When all this is done, people will be able to sign-up for you newly created proxy site. For every person that signs up on this domain you get a commission every month.
